Bill King
Missouri, 1979
I grew up in St Francois County Mo. I’ve very briefly seen a bf at the edge of the wood line. That was my second experience.
My first encounter was when a friend and I were riding dirt bikes in the area that is now St Joe state park. Our property was close enough that I could ride less than 100 yards and be in what is now the park. We were about 2 miles from my house and had stopped to smoke.
If you look at Google Earth satellite view, you can see how there are light colored areas and woods. The light colored areas are sand and clay. We were between 2 patches of woods, in an area about 40 yards long and 10 yards wide. We were parked side by side, chatting and smoking facing each other leaning against our bikes.
I heard some move behind me and about that time it let out a LOUD, but very low toned grunt or chuff. It was very close behind me. It shook me to the core (Infrasound?). My friend looked at me suddenly and said “Did you just fart”? Ha ha!
We were already starting the bikes as he knew better and were out of there! I knew what it was.
My friend was not convinced and to this day still says it was probably a big buck snorting. He didn’t get rattled by the sound he says, but I think he is too scared to admit it. This happened in about 1979 or 80 in the late fall, early winter. I still have lasting issues from it.
Editor’s Note: Validated!
I’m Gary Shooty creator of this site and I need to make an important note regarding this area. Months prior to meeting Bill, I was at a routine doctor appointment and brought up the topic of Bigfoot. My doctor shared with me an account his brother had back in the 1970’s in this same area. I have not spoken with his brother as he does not discuss this topic. Here is the account as told by my doctor.
He and his family hunted family owned property back during this time that bordered up to what is now known as St. Joe Park. His brother was setting up deer camp near dusk. He distinctly heard something bipedal walking toward him in the woods but was on the other side of a cedar tree and he couldn’t make it out. Plus it was getting dark.
He called out to what he thought was a person and no answer. Still in this thinking he warned them that he had a gun if they were looking for trouble and again no answer. Rather raise his gun he opted to throw a rock in that direction which went through the cedar tree and hit something that sounded very solid. At this point “it” took off running clearly bipedal and was busting through brush like a bull.
As I remember his brother left. Most importantly it was the same location and era as Bill’s encounter.
