Missouri, 1983
One morning in late August 1983, I was walking home from work in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. I was crossing a field which was soon scheduled to be the baseball park at Three Rivers College. I noticed a figure standing about 75 to 100 yards in front of me and soon realized it was a reddish colored Bigfoot standing at the tree line watching me!
He was about 6 foot tall and had light skin with reddish orange hair like an orangutan. His head was tilted and was pretty ugly. I watched it for well over five minutes. The entire time I was looking at him and he did not move the whole time. I kept thinking I was seeing things as I walked toward it. When I got close enough to realize what it was, I turned around and walked back the way I had come!
I was pretty scared and kept turning to see if it had moved and it did not. I walked the long way home and about and hour and a half later, went back (with a neighbor) to the spot it was standing at and the ground was pretty hard packed dirt. I could only see that there were marks that something had been there, but no definite foot prints.
I originally thought it was a type of orangutan because bigfoot was not even on my radar then. I was 18 years old at the time of my sighting and grew up in the Ozark woods just 15 miles North of Poplar Bluff. Our property bordered the Mark Twain National Forest.
